From 5th to 18th January 2014, MINI will line up with the MINI ALL4 Racing at the Rally Dakar. In 2012 and 2013 MINI was the car to beat at the toughest marathon rally in the world. Frenchman Stéphane Peterhansel won the last two editions of the Dakar at the wheel of a MINI ALL4 Racing run by the Trebur-based X-raid Team (DE).
“The 2012 Dakar victory of the MINI ALL4 Racing certainly came as a surprise to many, “ says Jochen Goller, Senior Vice President MINI. “But its title defense in 2013 proved that the initial victory was no coincidence. The 2014 Dakar will be another great challenge which the MINI brand gladly accepts.“ In 2014, Peterhansel is out to complete a hat-trick of titles for MINI and the X-raid Team.

Aloha, MINI: expressing the pure joy of living for 54 years.
Munich / Honolulu. Seven models here, six major islands there. Exemplary low-emissions engines on one hand, relentlessly fuming volcanos on the other. At first glance, the British car brand MINI and the Pacific island group of Hawaii appear to have nothing in common – yet both have a fun and quirky charm. MINI is to its worldwide fan community what Hawaii is to the USA: an expression of the pure joy of living. And they happen to celebrate an anniversary at almost exactly the same time: on August 21st 1959 Hawaii became the 50th US state, while the classic Mini was officially presented for the first time just five days later, on August 26th 1959.
Unconventional, high-energy campaign enters next phase
Munich. The new MINI brand campaign got underway in June under the already established “NOT NORMAL” claim. The global campaign conveys the brand’s individual, high-energy attitude to life and highlights the strong emotional and personal connection between driver and MINI. “NOT NORMAL” focuses on MINI’s strong, independent character. The campaign, which integrates the full range of MINI products, will be rolled out worldwide through all communication channels.
At the heart of the MINI brand campaign are two new TV spots. The emotionally-powerful “A FRIEND FOR LIFE” spot shows in a humorous way how MINI is a lifelong companion for young and old alike in all situations of life. In typical MINI style, the spot shows people in various stages of their lives who all share one thing in common: their passion for MINI. The spots have different endings: One shows former rally driver Rauno Aaltonen as an enthusiastic MINI fan.
This sounds really exciting. For almost $1000 you can get trained at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Below is the official press Release from MINI USA. Motor On!

MINI USA Announces Partnerships with Audible, Glympse, Rhapsody and TuneIn.
Demo apps available for media preview at the New York Auto Show.
Additions ensure a well-rounded app portfolio for MINI Connected.
Woodcliff Lake, NJ – March 27, 2013… MINI announced today that four new partners will provide integrated Apple iPhone apps for MINI Connected, MINI’s flexible and innovative infotainment platform. The addition of the new apps, Audible (spoken digital content), Glympse (location sharing), Rhapsody (on-demand music service) and TuneIn (Internet radio) ensures that the portfolio of MINI Connected Ready apps is well-rounded, addressing wider entertainment options as well as functional needs.
“We regularly identify apps that our owners rely on as part of their everyday life, and adapt them for an in-vehicle experience they’ll find safe, useful and engaging,” said Phil Johnston, Product Manager for the BMW Group Apps Platform from the BMW Group Technology Office. “Audible, Glympse, Rhapsody and TuneIn were natural additions to the family of MINI Connected Ready Apps.”
Johnston continued, “Integrating access to spoken digital content from Audible, was the next logical way to expand audio entertainment for drivers. The ability to use the Glympse app from the existing vehicle controls enables drivers to share their whereabouts and ETA in a much safer way. Music is key to vehicle infotainment, and by partnering with Rhapsody, we are delivering music to our owners in user-friendly formats they prefer. With TuneIn, MINI motorers will not only get thousands of music radio stations, but also live sports, news and talk shows from around the world.”
Previews of all four demo apps will be offered for media guests at the New York International Auto Show on the MINI stand March 27 and 28.
