MINI Countryman launch party

Click on picture to see more.

Motor City MINI in Michigan held an event last night for the launch of the MINI Cooper Countryman! It was great to finally see the car in person and it’s actually smaller than I thought. The MINI they had was the Countryman S with automatic transmission and MINI Connected with Nav. I didn’t get to play with it, because I needed the keys to the MINI for me to do that :) The event was a great time, nice turnout I think with people from the local MINI club and some potential new owners. Speaking of potential owners, last night a guy surprised his wife with a MINI Cooper Clubman that he bought for her! The sign in the car said “How do you like your new MINI?” She was really happy to get her MINI! Check with your local dealer for the Countryman launch party, because it seems like all MINI dealers are doing it. Motor On!

2011 MINI Cooper options

So if you’re about to order your MINI or just ordered it, there’s a new convenience package that MINI USA has not yet posted in their website builder (the last time I checked, MINI Connected wasn’t there, but I’m guessing in december it will be there). The new Convenience package, called Convenience package II or ZC2 for dealer code can be ordered if you order MINI Connected or MINI Connected with navigation. This package includes these following options:
319 Universal Garage Door Opener
322 Comfort Access keyless entry
431 Auto-dimming rearview mirror
521 Rain sensor and auto headlights

All of this for the price of $750!

Granted, if you ordered the Convenience package I, there’s no need to order this package II, because all of these items are included in the package I, except Bluetooth USB/iPod adapter. Now if you did order MINI Connected the Bluetooth USB/iPod adapter comes with it.

It’s a great option if you don’t want to spend the money on MINI Connected that will be available in December for MINI Coopers assembled in Oxford and MINI Countryman in November that are assembled in Austria. MINI JCW WC50 officialy coming to US

Here’s the official press release by MINI about the MINI John Cooper Works World Championship 50 special edition (JCW WC50) that’s coming to the US. Only 50 are being shipped and motorigfile reported that all 50 have been spoken for. It’s a great looking car and congrats to all 50 people that bought them! Motor On!

MINI Confirms the John Cooper Works World Championship 50 Edition Will be Sold in the U.S.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – April 14, 2010… In response to high dealer demand, MINI USA will offer a limited number of the MINI John Cooper Works World Championship 50 special edition vehicles in the US. 50 of the hand-built vehicles will be delivered to US dealers, beginning late spring / early summer.

The special edition model was first shown to the public during the 2009 MINI United Festival in Silverstone, England. The worldwide production run has been confirmed for just 250 vehicles.

Inspired and influenced by John Cooper’s son, Mike Cooper, the limited MINI special edition is a tribute to both the birth of the brand and John Cooper’s first Formula One title victory 50 years ago. Both were revolutionary and triumphant: in the summer of 1959 Alec Issigonis presented his concept for an all-new small car, with its transverse-mounted front four-cylinder engine, and space for four occupants plus luggage. That same year, sports car constructor John Cooper won his first Formula One World Championship title with Jack Brabham at the wheel.

Based on a MINI John Cooper Works Hardtop, the World Championship 50 vehicle is painted a special color called Connaught Green, harking back to the famous color of British race cars of the 1950s and 60s era. It is combined with the roof and bonnet stripes in Pepper White. The vehicle is then equipped with the John Cooper Works Aero Kit, gloss black versions of the 17” Challenge spoke wheels, custom numbered side scuttles, a unique Championship Red Lounge Leather interior and carbon fiber accents throughout. It also features special floormats with red stitching that matches the red stitching found on the shifter and parking brake boots. John Cooper Works’ signature adorns a special plaque that is affixed to the instrument panel trim.

MSRP for the MINI John Cooper Works World Champion 50 Edition will be $39,600; Destination and Handling costs are $700, for a total cost of $40,300.

MINI Cooper Clubman new Customization!

Below is the official press release from BMW about a revolutionary way to personalize your MINI Cooper Clubman.

MINI TAKES AUTOMOBILE PERSONALIZATION TO A NEW LEVEL.

  • 01.04.2010
  • Press Release

* Revolutionary new paint system allows quick, unlimited exterior color changes on the new MINI
* Now owners can change paint color to match their mood – in minutes and as often as they like
* A fast, simple route to infinite MINI customization options
* The ultimate in automobile personalization will become available on the MINI Clubman

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – April 1, 2010… MINI, a leader in the manufacturing of customized vehicles in volume, is set to take automobile personalization to a whole new level with a revolutionary paint system that will allow owners to change the exterior color of their vehicle as often as they change their mood.

The ground-breaking MINIMagic paint system, exclusively available on MINI Clubman, will give MINI owners the chance to completely change their MINI’s exterior color in only a few minutes and with just the effort required to apply a single coat of wax – a world first for an automotive manufacturer.

The MINIMagic paint system will be available with any of the Clubman’s stunning paint colors, starting this spring.

“The introduction of MINIMagic on the MINI Clubman will transform the way owners select the exterior colors on a new MINI, and offers even more options to personalize a MINI to individual taste,” said Jim McDowell, Vice President of MINI USA . “Gone are the days when our customers need to worry about whether they have made the right choice of paint color. With MINIMagic, if they change their mind altogether, or just want a brief transformation of their MINI for a few weeks, it can now be done as simply as changing a shirt or rinsing your hair from blonde to brunette!” he added.

The new, innovative range of MINIMagic paint finishes are first applied at the production facility in Oxford, United Kingdom, as the first stage in a two-part process. All it takes for the customer to activate an on-demand color change is a simple application of the second part of the process – a quick wipe over the painted surfaces with the patented MINIMagic paint polish. In minutes, the transformation – from Light Coffee to Cosmic Blue for example – can be completed.

The permanence of the color changes can be selected by the customer, with three different second-stage polishes available – one month, six months or permanent. If left alone, the one-month and six-month paint finishes eventually revert to the vehicle’s original paint color, a process that happens in just a few hours at the end of the chosen period.

The MINI Clubman is one of the most customizable vehicles on the market with over 500 exterior and interior color and trim combinations possible, and even the facility to change the interior ambient lighting to match a mood or an occasion. With each individual package and options, it will be possible for customers to literally build a one-in-a-million MINI Clubman.

Professor Lirpa Loof, Head of Exterior Aesthetics and Paint Finishes at MINI USA, said: “MINIMagic will bring a whole new meaning to the concept of car cleaning and restoration. As easily carried out as a wash and a wipe, our owners can have a ‘new’ MINI Clubman that is capable of matching any atmosphere or any occasion.”

The MINI Clubman, exhibiting some real ‘MINIMagic’, can be seen on the MINI display from April 1st during the New York Auto Show, held at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City.

MINI Beachcomber concept

I had a great time at the 2010 NAIAS during press time. I got to experience the press conferences automakers were having, especially MINI. At the MINI press conference, they revealed the MINI Beachcomber concept. I did take photos before their press conference, which was at 2:45 pm and I got there at 7:00 am, and after the press conference when journalists were there and I have to say the Beachcomber concept looks great. Have a look for yourself in my gallery and you tell me what you think. This car is based on the upcoming MINI Countryman which will hopefully be released in the US this year for the 2011 model year. I’m almost thinking of ordering the Countryman instead of the Clubman as My Next MINI. I’ll keep you posted on what I know, till then, Motor On!

Pepper White Clubman S

This potentially could be my next MINI that I will order next year. It has all the options I’d like, but also have black side stripes as well. The interior is the standard black leatherette, I might be changing that to the cloth interior like I had on my 2004 MCS. 6 speed manual tranny, front driving lights (when I added the front black driving lights on miniusa website they didn’t come in right, so I left them off), silver stripes on roof, but I might order custom ones from cooperflags I just need to find out if they can provide me with pepper white color stripes, that would look a lot better I think. I do like the way the JCW aero kit looks like. I did see it in person on the Rally edition Clubman and it looks great! I didn’t order a sunroof, but I did get the cold weather package (it gets cold here in Michigan) as well as the convenience package. I decided to skip the sport package and the premium package. The black 17″ Crown Spoke rims with the performance  tires look awesome on this MINI,

but I will have to order some snow tires for the winter here in Michigan, most likely with a set of steel rims… black of course :) I’m sure next year or maybe even tomorrow I’ll have a different idea of how my next MINI should look like, but for now I’ll stick with this one. Motor On!

MINI Clubman JCW

I saw this MINI at the dealer yesterday. It’s a 2009 MINI Cooper Clubman JCW with 7,000 miles on it and asking price is $34,000. The MINI looks great, MINI JCW frontit has a 6-speed manual tranny, black leatherette interior. I would love to buy this MINI, but the timing is not perfect at the moment. It is slightly used and I have no problem with used cars (my current car I bought used), but for me a MINI is suppoed to be part of your character and I feel like something ismissing.. one of the things I noticed is that it’s MINI JCW rearmissing rear fog lamps and I bet you’re thinking so what? Well let me tell you.. I like to have all of the switches inside under the radio filled, looks weird to me when there’s an open spot… but that’s just me. There are a few more pictures of this MINI in my picture gallery here…. enjoy :)
