MINI Cooper Clubman new Customization!
Posted by Chris Ordon in Mini Cooper, MINI info on 2010/04/01
Below is the official press release from BMW about a revolutionary way to personalize your MINI Cooper Clubman.
MINI TAKES AUTOMOBILE PERSONALIZATION TO A NEW LEVEL.
- 01.04.2010
- Press Release
* Revolutionary new paint system allows quick, unlimited exterior color changes on the new MINI
* Now owners can change paint color to match their mood – in minutes and as often as they like
* A fast, simple route to infinite MINI customization options
* The ultimate in automobile personalization will become available on the MINI Clubman
Woodcliff Lake, NJ – April 1, 2010… MINI, a leader in the manufacturing of customized vehicles in volume, is set to take automobile personalization to a whole new level with a revolutionary paint system that will allow owners to change the exterior color of their vehicle as often as they change their mood.
The ground-breaking MINIMagic paint system, exclusively available on MINI Clubman, will give MINI owners the chance to completely change their MINI’s exterior color in only a few minutes and with just the effort required to apply a single coat of wax – a world first for an automotive manufacturer.
The MINIMagic paint system will be available with any of the Clubman’s stunning paint colors, starting this spring.
“The introduction of MINIMagic on the MINI Clubman will transform the way owners select the exterior colors on a new MINI, and offers even more options to personalize a MINI to individual taste,” said Jim McDowell, Vice President of MINI USA . “Gone are the days when our customers need to worry about whether they have made the right choice of paint color. With MINIMagic, if they change their mind altogether, or just want a brief transformation of their MINI for a few weeks, it can now be done as simply as changing a shirt or rinsing your hair from blonde to brunette!” he added.
The new, innovative range of MINIMagic paint finishes are first applied at the production facility in Oxford, United Kingdom, as the first stage in a two-part process. All it takes for the customer to activate an on-demand color change is a simple application of the second part of the process – a quick wipe over the painted surfaces with the patented MINIMagic paint polish. In minutes, the transformation – from Light Coffee to Cosmic Blue for example – can be completed.
The permanence of the color changes can be selected by the customer, with three different second-stage polishes available – one month, six months or permanent. If left alone, the one-month and six-month paint finishes eventually revert to the vehicle’s original paint color, a process that happens in just a few hours at the end of the chosen period.
The MINI Clubman is one of the most customizable vehicles on the market with over 500 exterior and interior color and trim combinations possible, and even the facility to change the interior ambient lighting to match a mood or an occasion. With each individual package and options, it will be possible for customers to literally build a one-in-a-million MINI Clubman.
Professor Lirpa Loof, Head of Exterior Aesthetics and Paint Finishes at MINI USA, said: “MINIMagic will bring a whole new meaning to the concept of car cleaning and restoration. As easily carried out as a wash and a wipe, our owners can have a ‘new’ MINI Clubman that is capable of matching any atmosphere or any occasion.”
The MINI Clubman, exhibiting some real ‘MINIMagic’, can be seen on the MINI display from April 1st during the New York Auto Show, held at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City.

The MINI Cooper Laurel Sport special edition Hardtop, Convertible and Clubman have hit the US shores and should be en route to your nearest MINI dealer soon. Motor City MINI has informed me that they should be at their dealer by the end of march or beginning of april. As soon as the MINI’s arrive at the dealer, I’m heading out there to take some pictures and get the full specs of the MINI’s. So stayed tunes for more information as it comes in. Till then, Motor On!
MINI Beachcomber concept
Posted by Chris Ordon in BMW Mini, MINI info on 2010/01/19
I had a great time at the 2010 NAIAS during press time. I got to experience the press conferences automakers were having, especially MINI. At the MINI press conference, they revealed the MINI Beachcomber concept. I did take photos before their press conference, which was at 2:45 pm and I got there at 7:00 am, and after the press conference when journalists were there and I have to say the Beachcomber concept looks great. Have a look for yourself in my gallery and you tell me what you think. This car is based on the upcoming MINI Countryman which will hopefully be released in the US this year for the 2011 model year. I’m almost thinking of ordering the Countryman instead of the Clubman as My Next MINI. I’ll keep you posted on what I know, till then, Motor On!

MINI iPhone app
Posted by Chris Ordon in Mini Cooper, MINI info on 2009/12/20
All of you MINI owners and fans out there, check out this app (MINI Link) in the iTunes store that MINI USA released. I played with it for a bit, looks cool and let’s all of the MINI owners to connect out there. For those that have been following my blog, I’m not a current MINI owner, but next year I’ll be ordering a Clubman S. So check out the app and let me know what you think. Motor On!
Pepper White Clubman S
Posted by Chris Ordon in BMW Mini, Mini Cooper, MINI info on 2009/11/28

This potentially could be my next MINI that I will order next year. It has all the options I’d like, but also have black side stripes as well. The interior is the standard black leatherette, I might be changing that to the cloth interior like I had on my 2004 MCS. 6 speed manual tranny, front driving lights (when I added the front black driving lights on miniusa website they didn’t come in right, so I left them off), silver stripes on roof, but I might order custom ones from cooperflags I just need to find out if they can provide me with pepper white color stripes, that would look a lot better I think. I do like the way the JCW aero kit looks like. I did see it in person on the Rally edition Clubman and it looks great! I didn’t order a sunroof, but I did get the cold weather package (it gets cold here in Michigan) as well as the convenience package. I decided to skip the sport package and the premium package. The black 17″ Crown Spoke rims with the performance tires look awesome on this MINI,

but I will have to order some snow tires for the winter here in Michigan, most likely with a set of steel rims… black of course
I’m sure next year or maybe even tomorrow I’ll have a different idea of how my next MINI should look like, but for now I’ll stick with this one. Motor On!
A nice inventory at Motor City Mini
Posted by Chris Ordon in BMW Mini, Mini Cooper, MINI info on 2009/11/21
There is quite an inventory of new and used MINIs at Motor City Mini. All of these MINIs are waiting for some good owners to take them home before the holidays! Any takers? Check out the inventory at Motor City Minis website or go visit them in Shelby Twp. MI
Also on a side note, Mini Cooper S with the Camden package and MINI Cooper S with the Mayfair package have been sold, but don’t worry, you can always order your own MINI with the Camden or Mayfair package for the 2010 model year. These packages are only available for the MINI Cooper Hardtop.
MINI Clubman JCW
Posted by Chris Ordon in BMW Mini, Mini Cooper, MINI info, pictures on 2009/11/15
I saw this MINI at the dealer yesterday. It’s a 2009 MINI Cooper Clubman JCW with 7,000 miles on it and asking price is $34,000. The MINI looks great,
it has a 6-speed manual tranny, black leatherette interior. I would love to buy this MINI, but the timing is not perfect at the moment. It is slightly used and I have no problem with used cars (my current car I bought used), but for me a MINI is suppoed to be part of your character and I feel like something ismissing.. one of the things I noticed is that it’s
missing rear fog lamps and I bet you’re thinking so what? Well let me tell you.. I like to have all of the switches inside under the radio filled, looks weird to me when there’s an open spot… but that’s just me. There are a few more pictures of this MINI in my picture gallery here…. enjoy
MINI Clubman Rally edition update
Posted by Chris Ordon in BMW Mini, Mini Cooper, MINI info, pictures on 2009/11/08
For those of you that wanted to see the MINI Cooper Clubman Rally edition in person at Motor City Mini, the time has passed. The MINI wsa sold this past thursday to a MINI enthusiast. It’s a good thing I took the pictures when I did, otherwise not everyone would be able to see it. The pictures I posted here and the pictures in my gallery are all the pictures I took. As far as I know the interior wasn’t any different than any other clubman. So here’s another picture of this special edition MINI. If you’re the owner of the MINI in question and reading this post, MOTOR ON! It’s a great looking MINI. If I was to buy it, I would of gotten a personalized license plate: GRNLTRN. Motor On!
